Interview with Attorney Jason K. Hutchinson
What made you want to become a family law attorney?
I wanted to become a family law attorney when I realized this was an area of the law in which you could actually help people. Civil law is purely about money, criminal law has only to do with freedom, but family law is an area where you can actually assist someone and affect their lives in a positive manner, not just with courtroom victories, but also with sound family advice.
In your opinion, what sets your firm apart from the rest?
We are an extremely experienced trial law firm. We concentrate nearly all of our practice in the area of family law. We pride ourselves in knowing what would be the likely outcome from the Court for your case. We then set our litigation goals based upon reasonable expectations, and then aggressively execute a plan to achieve those goals.
How do you view your role in the attorney-client relationship?
The attorney has to take on several roles in representation. First: to advise the client and counsel them as they move through a very difficult time in their life. Educating the client on the status of the law is important; however, equally important is ensuring that they comprehend how the law affects their specific case.
Communication between the lawyer and the client is key to success in many cases. Second: the attorney's role as a trial attorney. An effective trial attorney is one that presents the evidence in the case in a coherent and logical manner in the light most favorable to the client. This skill is what we pride ourselves on at Hutchinson Law.
What advice do you most often give your clients & why?
Take a moment to breathe. Things will get better. A family law case can be one of the most stressful events of anyone's life. We hear again and again from our client after an initial consultation, how much better they feel after having spoken with us and how we have alleviated a great deal of stress.
What is the first thing you do when you take on a new case?
We investigate the facts of the case and develop a specific case plan for each matter. Next, we draft the initial pleadings, file them with the Court and immediately begin preparations necessary to achieve the client's goals.
Tell us about a turning point in your career:
I succeeded in helping a biological father get a completely unfair dismissal of his case reversed by a higher Court. Justice prevailed based upon an attitude of never giving up and fighting at all cost for your client.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping a client; we have had numerous clients which have faced complete destruction of their family. Helping them regain their financial standing and their children is extremely rewarding.
Why should a prospective client choose to work with your firm?
Because we like to think that we offer the best representation for family law in the Jacksonville area. We pay special attention to each case and specifically develop a case plan to achieve the individual goals of the client. We have a vast amount of experience and have tried hundreds of cases.
Turn to a committed team in your time of difficulty.
